Bermuda Triangle Combines Various Accidents Under One Name

On December 5, 1945, five U.S. Navy Avenger bombers left Fort Lauderdale for a training flight. The pilots were experienced and the initial weather report was acceptable, yet the entire formation disappeared. A PBM Mariner rescue aircraft also lost contact after leaving the base. No wreckage or bodies were recovered. Flight 19 became the foundation of the Bermuda Triangle story.
