The earliest call preserved by the National UFO Reporting Center came from Paulden at about 8:16 p.m. The caller said that he and his family had seen four or five red-orange lights in front and one set farther back, all moving rapidly together. Calls then came from Prescott, Prescott Valley, Phoenix, and locations farther south. Many witnesses did not describe isolated points of light. They described a large dark shape with lights arranged in a V or a boomerang.
