Arkaim: The Circular City Turned Into an Alien Base

In 1987, archaeologists found a settlement on the steppe south of the Ural Mountains, in Russia’s Chelyabinsk Oblast. From the ground, Arkaim looked like earth banks. From above, it appeared as a planned circle: houses ran around a central space, while an outer wall and ditch controlled the approach. One direct question is already difficult enough: why did a community more than four thousand years ago organise a town according to such a strict plan?

When the excavators arrived, the valley was already scheduled to be flooded for a reservoir and machines had cut through the topsoil. Someone spotted the circular pattern in the disturbed earth, the reservoir plan was stopped, and Arkaim was kept dry. That rescue already tells the story ahead: not every earth bank is just an earth bank.
